| PURPOSE
„h Efficiently and effectively manage the production of all Defence Systems products and ensure timely delivery of quality conformity in accordance with customer orders.Organise and utilise both internal and external resources to maximum effect to ensure the business goals and objectives are met.Manage and maximise the potential within a wide and varied manufacturing work force.Recommend and implement industry best practice approaches to product manufacture.
RESPONSIBILITIES
„h Take full responsibility for and co-ordinate the key manufacturing functions of Production Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, Machine Shop, Assembly, Test, Stores and Despatch to achieve on time delivery of conforming products.
„h Ensure timely and conforming product manufacture with best plant utilisation and labour efficiency, whilst also ensuring optimal stock and work in progress
„h Monitor, benchmark and set challenging yet ultimately achievable goals and targets for production based on sound and proven industry best practice.
„h Guide and develop functional resources to manage the day to day through put and priorities against the production plan.
„h As a key member of the Management Team, assist in directing the Defence Systems business to meets its near term and long terms objectives and goals.
„h Encourage an open honest team-working based interaction with all reporting personnel.
„h Carry out and manage personnel development in accordance with the company system.
„h Ensure supportive, adequate and appropriate training is provided to meet the individuals and company needs.
„h Carry out audits and corrective actions, if required, to ensure the company operating, quality and HSE procedures are fully maintained.
„h Represent production in meetings with customers and other external bodies as and when required.
„h Take full accountability for all overhead costs directly associated with Production.
„h Deputise for the General Manager on occasions as and when requested.
„h Ensure top level company and interdivisional needs are considered along side those of the Defence Systems Division.
„h Carry out additional tasks reasonably requested or recognised as important to the safe and effective running of the business.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Significant previous experience of manufacturing or operations management within an Electro-mechanical biased industry. (ISO9000 and / or Defence Certified). Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare and deliver professional presentations at a senior level. Improvement opportunities and follow them through to conclusion. Highly motivated and performance focussed. Capable of holding an authoritative position and winning both respect and technical credibility with employees and customers. |
